| I saw an ad for a Macy's one day sale that was to happen this morning. On the commercial they advertised a roasting pan for $8. Now, I have just recently watched a show on the Food Network where the cook used a roasting pan and had thought to myself, "that's something I need!". So with Nikole fed and happy, I left her at home with Adam and took off for Macy's.
I arrived at the store in good time only to realize that this particular Macy's doesn't have a housewares section. No worries, I live in Marin County, the home of rich folks. I simply got back in the car and drove a few exits down the freeway to our second Macy's store. That is, after I perused through the woman's clothes section long enough to remind myself why I don't shop at Macy's. Who wants to pay $138 for a sweater shirt?
Once I got to the second Macy's, I realized just how successful a one day sale was for them, as the entire parking lot was full. At 12:30 pm on a Wednesday, that's huge. I parked in a neighboring parking lot and walked over to the store. Thankfully, I found the roasting pan right away and took my place in line. After a brief fifteen minutes, I made my way to the front, purchased my $8 roasting pan, and drove home.
Was it worth it? I think so. Then again, I wasn't the one at home with the screaming baby ;)

| I think that the "Battle for Feeding Time" will be never ending with this kid. One day things seem to be going great, then the next two days become a fight each time I sit down to nurse. Most of the time she'll nurse very well in the middle of the night, and less well her first feeding in the morning. After that it's all up in the air.
*sigh* I hope our next baby doesn't have nursing problems. I'll bet he'll be a champion breastfeeder and instead will never sleep! Toddlerhood come soon!
Today I gave money to a begger on the side of the road. After I gave her the few dollars that I had on me, I said "best of luck" and rolled up my window to wait for the green light. I felt so awful in that moment. How could I say "best of luck" when I know that "luck" will have nothing to do with her life situation? I should have said "God Bless" or "Jesus loves you" or something like that. But to say that just seems so trite. Is there anything that I could have said that would have been better?
On a lighter but much more disgusting note - Nikole and I had our first diaper blow out in public today. We were in the car after her doctor's appointment (just to be weighed - 11lbs 5oz!) getting ready to go from there to Target when I realized that she needed a diaper change. It was the worst! The process took close to ten minutes and required about five or six baby whipes and a new change of clothes. I ended up just throwing out the onesie she was wearing rather than trying to clean it - it was that bad. According to my mother, I'll have many more experiences just like this. ... yay for babies!
And with that, I'll say goodnight.

| I'm asking myself whether I want to continue blogging every day, when it seems that all I have to say is "today went ok..." or something of the sort. That being the case, unless I hear a massive outcry to the contrary, I think I'll blog a little less often about the rigors of weaning Nikole from the bottle.
And that's all for tonight. I'm super tired and can't wait to hit the sack. That is, after I do my Bible study.
Quote of the day: "Did you just compare my Lord and Savior to a tiny top hat? He sure did baby, go get him!"
Name that show.

| We did pretty well today. On the downside, she didn't eat very often - that's my fault though. I fed her around 6 then again at 9:30ish. Our lunch out with family unfortunately pushed her next feeding off until around 2. Oddly, this was the one feeding of the day that she fought the most. I would have thought that she'd be so hungry that she would immediately nurse, but instead she cried and fussed. She then went to sleep for almost three hours! I was surprised that she could sleep so long in the middle of the day after eating so little. Thankfully, she ate after her nap and then again right before bed (I pushed her bedtime from 8 to 9 due to her long afternoon nap), so I'm fairly certain that she had enough today.
Speaking of eating enough - I'm not doing so well on my eating habits. I've been skipping more meals lately, and when I do eat, it's not been the most nutritious food. I've also not been drinking nearly enough water. I've got to get on that.
